The Black Eyed Peas Redo “Where Is The Love”

The Black Eyed Peas originally released the song “Where Is The Love” in 2003, where it made a huge statement about the future of the world and how people were acting towards each other. The band has recently decided to re-release the music video with updated clips about the horrors that continue to plague our current climate.

The original song was a direct response to the 9/11 attacks and the war on terrorism during the early 2000s. The new release of the song actually came out within a few weeks of the 15th anniversary of those horrible attacks on the World Trade Center. The band’s new video and updated song is a direct response to the images and horrible attacks that are taking place in Syria. The video uses images of children that have been killed by ISIS, and they also wanted to address the Black Lives Matter movement.

The lyrics of the song have now taken a turn to talk to about the death and the police brutality acts towards Philando Castile and Alton Sterling. Will.i.am even is heard in the song rapping about the deaths of the five police officers in Dallas Texas.

Not only have the lyrics and the direction of the song changed, but there are also new people involved.

The original song featured a fresh-out-of-NSYNC Justin Timberlake, who was a major star at the time.

In order to make this oldie but goody song even more impactful, The Black Eyed Peas chose other celebrities to join the mix. These celebrities and artists include: Kendall Jenner, Mary J. Blige, Andra Day, Jessie J, Usher, and A$AP Rocky. The amazing thing about this group of celebrities is that not all of them are American, reinforcing the idea that this entire world has to take a stand together.

Over the past year and a half, it has been made very apparent to The Black Eyed Peas that the world needed to be reminded again of how we all could use some love.

Will.i.am told sources, “I remember when the attack in Paris happened, people would say ‘We need ‘Where Is the Love?’ again, and then Belgium happened and then Turkey and then Orlando and then Philando and Alton before him, and then Dallas. Everyone was calling on us like, ‘We need that song again.'”

All of the proceeds of this wonderful music video and download are going to the i.am.angel.foundation. This foundation was started by Will.i.am with the focus of giving children and teens the means to receive education and college scholarships.

Will.i.am states, “We need to rebuild America for those who dream big and have a sense of community. That’s what we’re trying to do.” The charity is one of the best out there, It focuses solely on helping out the community, and helping children realize their dreams.
